    A Living Hope

    August 16, 2019

The bible reminds us, “if in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.” (1 Cor. 15:19)   Jesus came to bring life, abundant life - eternal life.  The bible says, “God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.

(1 Thess. 5: 9-10)   We are continually faced with death and reminded that we will not live forever in this life.  We are also reminded that we are not guaranteed tomorrow.  But Jesus came to save and to bring hope!  The gospel is “good news!”   The bible says, “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.” ( 1 John 5:13)   The Day of the Lord (His return) is coming.  He will end time as we know it and usher in eternity.

Living in expectation of eternity is The Believers Hope - present and future!

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” (1 Cor.2:9)

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (1 Peter 1: 3)

I love this old hymn  by Albert Brumley, “I’ll meet You in the Morning!”    The  lyrics speak of the assurance of our future hope, which gives us a present hope.  3. “I will meet you in the morning, at the end of the way, on the streets of that city of gold, where we all can be together and be happy for aye, while the years and the ages shall roll!”

Chorus, “I’ll meet you in the morning, with a how do you do, and we’ll sit down by the river and with rapture auld acquaintance renew; you’ll know me in the morning by he smiles that I wear, when I meet you in the morning, in the city that is built, four square.”

I’ll meet you in the morning!
