    A New Way of Living

    August 12, 2016

I had the opportunity to attend the Global Summit Leadership Conference, and although I didn’t agree or connect with all the speakers, I was inspired and challenged by Bill Hybels,T.D.Jakes, Wilfredo De Jesus, Chris McChesney, Danielle Strickland and John Maxwell.  A common thread from them was the responsibility as leaders to lead people to a preferred future and that people are the focus - I would agree. This conference was not only a tool to sharpen my skills to lead people, but also a time of reflection,

growth and honest evaluation.  We all have room to change and grow spiritually, not only as leaders, but as disciples of Jesus Christ.  And Jesus has called us all to “A different Way of Living” and thinking.  The Apostle Paul said in Galatians, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” (cf. 2: 20-21)   A critical biblical teaching is that calling to a crucified life.  You see, our lives as followers of Jesus is to be a life wholly given over to the Lord in humility and obedience.  Only as we die to “self” as leaders, as followers of Christ can we fully impact our community, our culture and our world and fulfill the Great Commission (cf. Matthew 28: 18-20).

“Our greatest fear should not be of failure, but of succeeding at things in life that don’t really matter.” - Francis Chan
