Do you consider yourself Patriotic?  Defined as, “feeling of love, devotion and sense of attachment to a homeland and alliance with other citizens who share the same sentiments.”   It’s good to be patriotic.  Although I don’t always agree with our elected leaders, nor do I  always condone what they do or don’t do - I still am glad to be an American.  As a citizen of America I should obey the law of the land, pay my taxes and more importantly, the Bible says that I should pray for our leaders!   We have a lot of privileges and freedoms that other countries do not enjoy.

We should not disrespect our country nor the symbols that represent her.

As Christ followers, He would expect us to be good citizens of the country in which we live and to stand for truth and for those that cannot stand up for themselves.   As Christ followers we have duel citizenship, one on earth and one in heaven.  We bear the image of God, therefore, we are to love God above all else and to love others.  Jesus said within in these two commands (love God, love others) that all the commandments of God are fulfilled.  God calls us to love our families and others “unconditionally!”   Family is essential to any society - family is God ordained!  The late President Ronald Reagan well said, “America is no stronger than its people!”   A strong and blessed country will be comprised of a strong love for God and others.  When each is valued - “God, family, country” - and put into proper prospective/order, then freedom in Christ will reign and endure.   Only then, will you be truly free.  Jesus said, “you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free!”   Jesus also said, “render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s” and to “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Cf. Matthew 22:21; 6:33)

Am I Patriotic? - Absolutely!   But prayerfully in proper order - 

“God” - Family - Country!
