I am looking forward with great expectation to the 51st Central Indiana Camp meeting of the Church of God - I am so thankful for the family of God. I am so blessed to be a part of that community of faith made up of past, present and “future” brothers and sisters in Christ on earth and in heaven. This mutual faith in Christ is what unites us, as was penned so well in one of those great Camp Meeting hymns - “O brethren, how this perfect love Unites us all in Jesus! One heart, and soul, and mind, we prove the union heaven gave us” (chorus, The Bond of Perfectness) I am praying and hopeful that there will be many added to the family of God during Camp meeting. As followers of Jesus Christ I know we all agree on the mission Jesus gave us, “Go and make disciples.” (Matthew 28) Sometimes the mission can get lonely, tiring and even discouraging at times. That is one of the many reasons it is so beneficial for the larger body of Christ to have intentional times of coming together - like camp meeting. I need you, as much as you need me. I love these lyrics to another good old hymn - “We have met today on the old camp ground,oh, the fellowship so sweet, as the pure in heart all together flow, In the bonds of love complete.” (The Old Camp Ground, D.S.Warner & B.E. Warren)
I am prayerful and hopeful to see you on the old camp ground this July 10th- 17th as Rev. Silas Oliver, Jr from Richmond, VA comes to proclaim God’s Truth and Rev. Rob and Ralph Watts from Ohio come to lead us in Worship and maybe sing a few of those good old heritage camp meeting hymns! All are welcome and encouraged to come!
In His Service,
