    Devoted to Jesus

    March 23, 2019

Yeh it is “officially” spring and we are fast approaching Easter!   Yes, I believe “that Christ died for (my) sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.” (cf. 1 Corinthians 15: 3-4)  Yes, I welcomed Christ into my life many years ago at the age of 15 (42 years ago).  But as I studied the text for this weeks sermon (cf. Luke 10: 38-42) and pen this weeks pastor’s desk, I have to ask and examine myself, where is Jesus in my life today?  That is, what place or what priority does Jesus really have in my life?   Am I distracted by much serving as Martha, or like Mary, am I sitting at Jesus feet and listening to His word, His instruction for my life and ministry?   If, like Peter, Jesus were to ask me today, “Rodney, do you love Me more than these?” (cf. John 20: 15) - what would be my answer?  Is Jesus still the main thing?  Or like the church in Ephesus (cf. Revelation 2) would Jesus say, “I know your works, your labor, your patience…and have labored for My name’s sake and have not become weary.  Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.”   Like Martha, I do worry and trouble myself about many things.  But I have to remind myself, Jesus said, “But one thing is needed.” - HIM!

Where are you at today in your relationship with Jesus?  Have you welcomed Him in?  Do you love Him more than these?  Is He still your first love?  Is Jesus still the main thing?
