Things of this life are so uncertain - change can come in an instant! One moment things are going along fine, and the next moment, not so good. There seems to be no real security in this life. And the older I get the more I am faced with the reality that I am not going to be here forever. The bible reminds us in James, “…what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.” (4:14) If I live to be 120 years old, what is that in light of eternity - in light of forever?!
In light of the frailty and uncertainty of this life what can you be certain off? You can be certain that your soul is going to live forever - one of two places the Bible says.
You can be certain that Jesus loves you! You can be certain that someday Jesus is going to make all things new! You can be certain that your name is written in the Lamb’s book of life and heaven is going to be your eternal home! The bible says believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved - “confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10: 9)
The bible says, “And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.” (2 John 5: 11-13)
What a Savior we have in Jesus! He is worthy of my time, talent and resources. He is worthy of the “first-fruits” that he has entrusted to me.
“You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.” (Rev.4:11)
