Jesus said, “Heaven and earth will pass away but My words will by now means pass away.” (Matthew 24:35)  Truth matters, more importantly, truth as written in God’s word matters, and according to Jesus (the Word became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14)) is of eternal, everlasting significance.  It is when the Word of God and the Spirit of God comes together that lives can be transformed, from the inside out!  That transformation starts with the new birth (born of the spirit).  Jesus said you must be born again!  But the truth doesn’t stop there.  The truth is to continue on in our lives now (abides in us) and promises to be with us forever. (cf. 2 John 1:2)   This truth received brings about Grace, mercy and peace.  The truth of God is manifested outwardly in that “we love one another, and “that we walk according to His commandments.” 

(cf. 2 John 1:6)   Peter admitted in 2 Peter 3:16 that “some things are hard to understand.”  Yes, some things are hard to understand, but the essentials of salvation and what it means to be a Christ follower are not.  When we read the truth, hear the truth via preaching and practice the truth it frees us in an unexplainable way!  It brings reason to rejoice in all circumstances!  The greatest gift you can pass on to the next generation is God’s truth - in word and practice.  For the Word, God’s Word, is the only thing that is going to last.

“If you abide in My word, you are my disciples indeed.  And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” - Jesus  

And all God’s people said, “Amen, Amen!”
