“These things I have written to you…that you may know…” - 1 John 5:13
In my pastoral ministry, the most difficult Sunday for me to preach has always been on Easter and Christmas — the simplest message, the most difficult to preach. Why? Because everyone knows and have heard the messages on the birth and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Everyone knows but unfortunately not everyone believes. Everyone on Easter Sunday, saved and unsaved alike, will go to church knowing what they will hear. There is no new revelation. Jesus said, “it is finished!” Those that didn’t follow Christ, as well as those that did, thought ‘yes it is finished’ but not in the way Jesus was revealing. Jesus defeated sin, death and the grave for all of mankind, for you, and for me! Over 500 were eyewitnesses to the physical resurrection of Jesus Christ! He is risen - He is risen indeed! That is good news! Provides us with the blessed hope beyond the grave and the reuniting of those who have gone on before us, if we too have truly believed and received what Jesus did on our behalf. Why would anyone want to reject such a wonderful blessing?! You may feel like you have a valid reason, and even without knowing your reason, I know its not reason enough! The message is so simple a child can understand it. In fact, Jesus said “…unless you are converted and become as little children, you will my no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” The prophet Daniel prophesied “…many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase!” -
And yet, mankind is getting further and further from the truth, God’s truth.
Jesus said ,”I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.” Then Jesus went on to ask that all important question in reference to what He just communicated - “do you believe this?”
If you haven’t, say ‘yes’ to Jesus today! And if you have, help others to come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord! With God’s help, like the account of Lazarus in John chapter eleven, help role away the stone of unbelief so that one may come forth from the grave!
Happy Easter - He is risen! Are you?!
