“Happy Mother’s Day!” I am blessed to still have my Mother with me. In fact, I have a “triple” blessing because my Mother knows Jesus as her Savior and Lord and she worships and serves at the church in which God has called me to pastor! When “I call to remembrance” my childhood I have fond memories of my Mom - too many to pen in this space. My Mom would probably say she was not perfect, but I would say she was - to me anyway. My Mom was not always a woman of faith, but I am so glad she is today. The greatest gift she could ever give me is her faith in Jesus Christ. Because of this mutual faith in Jesus Christ we are part of God’s family - the family of God - what a priceless heritage! As we celebrate and honor (Exodus 20:12) our Mother’s, lets remember the greatest way to honor them is by being a person of genuine faith (cf. 2 Timothy 1:5), that is, being obedient to Jesus and the whole counsel of His word. Jesus said, “whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.” (cf. Matthew 12:50) I am equally thankful for my spiritual brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers - what a great heritage - what an awesome future. “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
(1 Corinthians 2: 9) Are you part of the family of God? I sure hope so, and if not, why not today?! Jesus said, “unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3)
