    If My People

    June 9, 2020

Jesus said, “…my house shall be called a house of prayer…”  (cf.Matthew 21:13)  So why is it so hard for us to really pray?   Jim Cymbala, the pastor of the Brooklyn Tabernacle in New York, author of “Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire” said, “…the future will depend upon our times of prayer.”  Pastor Jim’s ministry is an example of what God will do through prayer, and I am thankful for his example.  But our greatest example is Jesus.  In the gospel of Luke we read that it was while He was praying in the Jordan that the spirit descended.  It was while He spent a night in prayer that He chose 12 disciples.  When He was on the cross Jesus was praying for those who persecuted Him.  It was while He was praying that He was transfigured.  The scripture say that the disciples went to bed, but Jesus went to pray.  Why pray?   I think Jesus answered that - so church lets PRAY!

We need more men and women standing in  the “Gap!”   God said, “I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.” (Ezekiel 22:30)   Church, I believe our greatest need and our most powerful weapon in these “Times” is PRAYER!

Jesus while praying in Gethsemane rebuked His disciples for falling asleep -“What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?” (Matthew 26:40)  Are we asleep too?!   Am I asleep?!  Oh, God stir my heart!   God may I be that one that is willing to stand in the “Gap” and intercede on behalf of others! May I not be asleep, but may I be persistent in prayer!

Will you stand in the “GAP” ?!

The bible promises “If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
