It is said that you can survive 3-5 minutes without air, 10 days without water, 40 days without food, but - no one can survive without “Hope!” I hope the colts win the supper bowl; I hope our economy turns around; I hope terrorism is defeated; I hope America repents and turns back to the God of the Bible; I hope my children and grandchildren live in a safe and prosperous America; I hope…..   But is this hope?  Is hope a “I hope so?” or “I know so!”  Yes, we should continue to pray for our local and National leaders.  Yes, we should pray for our President Elect Donald Trump and Vice-President Elect Mike Pence, but we cannot place our hope in men.  Man will let us down and disappoint us.  Nor can we place our hope in our feelings and emotions with the expectation of a certain thing to happen.  At the end of the day, there is only one in whom we can place our HOPE in, and that is  our creator - God!  We can hope and trust in the person and  work of Jesus Christ - King of Kings and Lord of Lords!  The Bible reminds us in Jeremiah 17: 7, “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is the LORD.”   - “This hope we have as an anchor to the soul, both sure and steadfast.” (cf. Hebrews 6: 13-20)

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead..” (cf. 1 Peter 1: 3- 9)

In whom or what are you placing your hope in?  Let me encourage you to place your HOPE in Jesus Christ and His Word!  And when you do, you can sing with full assurance, “I have a hope within my soul, Brighter than the perfect day: God has given me his spirit, and I want the world to hear it.  All my doubts are passed away.” (William G. Schell, “We Have a Hope”)

    In His Service,

    Pastor Rodney
