Life is a gift given by our creator - the LORD God! We in return of the life received are stewards, for “it is your life.” (cf. Deuteronomy 32: 47)
God has given us free will, the power to choose. We can choose to live life out for ourselves and worship the creation, or we can choose to live life out for a greater cause, our creator, and worship Him! But it is your choice, for “it is your life!” I am humbled when I think about the sanctity of life (“fearfully and wonderfully made,” psalm 139:13) and the brevity of life (“what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little while,” James 4: 14). I am also in awe of the thought that someday I will stand before God and give an account of the life He has entrusted to me (“for we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ,” 2 Corinthians 5:10).
I am grateful that “God so loved [me] that He gave His only begotten Son, that [if I] believe in Him [I] should not perish but have everlasting life.” - but it is my life - I can choose to believe or not believe. But as a steward of the life given, why would I choose eternal death over eternal life?!
By the continued/sustained grace and mercy of God I choose to: Highly esteem my relationship with Jesus; embrace God’s perspective of life; keep my eyes upon eternity; shape my life with the word of life; I will not
be ashamed to be identified with Jesus Christ and His word; pass my faith on to the next generation! “For [I know] it is not a futile thing for [me], because it is [my] life, and by this word [I] shall prolong my days in the land which [I someday will] cross over the Jordan to possess.”
(Deuteronomy 32: 44-47)
“It is my life” and I choose life! How about you?!
