The bible says, “…Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.” (John 13: 1)   For each one of us, “our hour” is coming too, when we will depart from this world.   Because of Jesus’ life, death, burial, and resurrection we too can know that we are going to our heavenly Father (cf. 1 John 5:13).  But, Jesus did not save us just for heavenly sake, but for earthly sake too!  Jesus reminds you and I, “For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.”   What was Jesus example?  He loved.  Jesus instructed us, 

" A new commandment (maundy - mandatum) I give to you, that you love one another…” (John 13: 34)   Characteristics of Jesus’ love lived out was:  humility, unselfishness, self-sacrifice, non-narcissistic, gentleness,… to just name a few.  Jesus says now, this kind of love will be characteristic of His disciples!  Let’s love Jesus to the end by loving others  - the way Jesus did!
