    Living Purposefully for Jesus

    August 24, 2018

I don’t know about you, but with all these floods, earthquakes, fires, droughts, hurricanes, volcanoes, tornadoes, violence, terrorism and the moral decay of our culture it makes me wonder if Jesus is not coming back very soon!   And although we should always live our lives in expectation of His imminent return, we cannot let these things paralyze us!  We must be all the more diligent to stay focused on Christ’s mission.  What was His Mission?  Well, in Jesus’ words it was to “preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim and acceptable year of the Lord.” (cf. Luke 4: 18-19; Isaiah 61: 1- 2).  Jesus proclaimed the Kingdom of God in word and deed.  Now, the church, “the called out” are to continue to proclaim the Kingdom too in word and deed.  The church is to be that priesthood of believers.  All believers are ministers.  We are all called to serve within the local assembly of the church and also to our community and world.  Paul in Ephesians reminds us pastors that Jesus has called us “for the equipping (perfecting, kjv) of the Saints for the work of ministry!

We are all in this together, “from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.” (Ephesians 4: 16)

Come on church -Let’s “Do Something!”

And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)

    In His Service,

    Pastor Rodney
