God doesn’t want us to live in the past, but the present. Yes, it is good and biblical to remember the past, as long as we don’t live there. The past should help us to move forward. God intends for His people, to be a people always looking and moving forward. I love watching my grandchildren, for many reasons, but I love witnessing how they are constantly learning and doing new things - God never intended for us to quit learning and doing new things just because we are older. God reminds you and I, “…I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are mine.” (Isaiah 43) This promise is not only to natural Israel, but spiritual Israel as well - those born again. The God of the bible that has given us life, makes new life available through Christ. God forgives and restores. He doesn’t want you living in the past. He says forget your past failures and successes, live in the present and claim His promises for the future. Jesus indeed made all things new, present and future! The bible says, “forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead.” (cf. Philippians 3: 13) “Then He who sat on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.” (cf. Revelation 21: 5)
Let us be a people, God’s people, who are always looking and moving forward with great optimism!
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” - 2 Corinthians 5:17
