The bible reminds us in James “…you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.” (4:14) My condolences, thoughts and prayers to all the families that have lost loved ones recently in several tragic events. Oh Lord, “teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” (Psalm 90: 12) We are hit hard with the brevity of human life when we watch the news or when it hits close to home.
It should stir us to make “no more excuses” to live out our lives for Christ in our sphere of influences. If you have been making excuses you are in good company - Moses had a few: “whom am I?; what shall I say?; what if they will not believe of listen to me?; I am not eloquent of speech; send someone else!” (cf. Exodus chapters 3 & 4) We may have had one or all of those excuses as well, but like Moses we must get the focus off our inadequacies and onto the God of the Bible who will empower and equip us to fulfill the purpose for which He has called us. He has called all of humankind to salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, and if you have answered that call by faith, then by faith you are called to be Jesus’ hands, feet and mouth piece to a world that desperately needs Him! The same God that empowered Moses to fulfill his purpose is the same God that will help each one of us fulfill our purpose. We can read the rest of Moses story. Your story is still being written -what will it say?!
