    People Need The Lord

    August 11, 2018

One of the greatest characteristics of a faithful church, made up of faithful believers is that they exhibit and demonstrate love - love for Jesus; love for one another; love for His word; love for those that do not know Christ as Savior and Lord; and yes, even love for your enemies!  If we are faithful to Jesus and His word, the love of Jesus will transform us into lovers!  Jesus’ love is unconditional (agape) and He expects His followers, His church, to demonstrate His unconditional love to all people, in all places, at all times!

The Apostle Paul expressed his love this way, “…I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.” (cf. 1 Corinthians 9: 22b)

Jesus’ passion should be our passion - lost people.  Jesus promises to save those who come to Him.  Saved from what? - from the judgement to come.  Love tells the truth!  The Bible says, “But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgement and perdition of ungodly men.” (2 Peter 3: 7)  That text goes on to remind us, “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise.”   Yes, judgement for sin is coming - that is the truth!  But today is the day of grace, that same text goes on further to say, “but (the Lord) is longsuffering toward us (the world - the unsaved), not willing that any should perish but that ALL should come to repentance.” (cf. 2 Peter 3: 9)

Jesus said, “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” (John 3: 18)

We can become so distracted by the things of life that we lose sight of the “big picture” - our mission and purpose.  People “desperately” need the Lord - for this life and the one to come!

    In His Service,

    Pastor Rodney
