“Ok, you hide, then I will count from 1 to 10 and shout, ’ready or not, hear I come’ -then I will come and try to find you!” I am sure you played “hide and seek” when you were little?! The goal was obviously not to be found if you were the one hiding. Kids games are fun. Regardless of your age, our creator created us to have fun, to be active and creative. But not all of life is fun and games. Everything in life worth pursuing takes preparation and discipline. It seems we prepare and discipline ourselves for everything in life but are prone to leave the most important preparation undone - our “readiness” to meet the Lord! If you are not saved - you are not ready! But you can be today, just reach out and call on His name - “Jesus!”
If you have received Him by faith, the Bible says that we should continue to live in a state of “readiness!” Just as Jesus came the first time, He will come again - for those who passed away, He has come! Living in a state of readiness means that you know whether you live or die you will be with Jesus! Living in a state of readiness means you are always thinking - “maybe today!”
When Jesus comes back and ends time as we know it and ushers in eternity for all of mankind it will be a great day for those who believe, but an equally terrible day for those who do not believe.
The bible warns us “the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night” - meaning, He will come when we do not expect Him to!
His return will not be fun and games, and all will be found and accounted for. The question - when He comes for you - will you be ready or will you be that group Jesus speaks of in Matthew 7: 23, “…I never knew you, depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.”
The bible says that He is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance! Jesus’ greatest desire is that you spend your eternity with Him and all those that believe. The clock is ticking.
Jesus says, “ready or not, here I come!”
