    Remember

    May 24, 2018

We celebrated, honored and recognized our Mother’s two weeks ago, and we are looking forward to the same for Father’s Day in just three more weeks!  But this coming Monday, Memorial Day , we pause, honor and remember those who have departed from this earthly life.  “Life”, that is the obvious common denominator.  God is the Creator of life, and of heaven and earth.  He is also the giver of eternal life through His Son Jesus Christ.  But we have an enemy of our souls, Satan.  And he is out to destroy and deceive.  He is out to destroy the family because he knows if he breaks up the family, he can destroy the culture.  Yes, there are battles and wars going on all over the world.  Jesus Himself said there would be wars and rumors of wars until the end of the age.  But the real war, the real battle, is spiritual!   The bible tells us in Ephesians, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

(6:12)  The weapons of our war are spiritual as well, that is why the bible tells us to “take up the whole armor of God.”

Yes, our sufficiency is of Christ and we have the ultimate victory through Him, but our enemy is fighting to get us off the course set before us individually and our mission corporately as the body of Christ.  Our only defense is prayer “and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God.” (cf. Ephesians 6:17)  Pray as you never have before because I believe the “Day of His appearing” is near!

And as we pause this Memorial weekend to remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy in America and to those loved ones that have passed away - “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter (life): Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all.  For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.” (Ecclesiastes 12: 13-14)
