The Apostle Paul exhorts followers of Jesus Christ to “take up the whole armor of God” - why? - “that you may be able to withstand in the evil day.”

(cf. Ephesians 6: 13)

It seems we are in that evil day, and evil “appears” to be winning.  There is so much evil in our world, and it seems to be growing worse.  On top of all that is going on in our world, you might be considering your evil day as: loss of a job; a breakup of a marriage; loss of a loved one; a diagnosis of a terminal illness; struggling to make it through the week financially; unexpected difficult  circumstances; maybe experiencing a “Job” kind of year, and we could list many more.  As people of faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ, what are we to do?   Keep walking - “we walk by faith not by sight” and “Take up the shield of faith”  What is the shield of faith?  It is applying the word of God to our lives and circumstances.  We serve a God who neither slumbers nor sleeps.  We serve a God that, “He alone” is Sovereign and He is still on His Throne!  His Word still stands true and is just as relevant today as when it was first penned.  His Word is an anchor for life and death.  His Word reminds us that He will never leave us nor forsake us and that He is coming again to receive His bride - the church, and that He is making all things new!  Many of the things we experience in this fallen world are nothing but “fiery darts” of the enemy of your soul, the devil.  But you can stand upon the word of God and be victorious!  What are your waiting for? - “Take up the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.” (cf. Ephesians 6: 10)
