As I pen this pastor’s desk, tensions are very high in our world.   North Korean is making missile threats on Guam (U.S. island, in the Pacific ), which could escalate into another war (possibly nuclear).  There will a total eclipse of the sun on August 21st, which has not happened since 1918 (when the moon, sun and earth are directly aligned).  We are at a low morally in our country and world.  The church is declining, and seemingly loosing its relevance in our society.  What we need in times like this, is good counsel - counsel that comes from the creator and sustainer of everything - the Lord GOD!   He has given us counsel in His written Word - the BIBLE.   Jesus said, there will be wars, and rumor of wars and that they would increase.  The bible says that there will be signs of the times in the natural elements.  The bible says that morality will decline, such as in the days of Noah.  The bible says there will be a great falling away from the faith (apostasy).  The bible says, “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine on the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD.” (Amos 8:11)

Jesus said, heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will last forever.  Jesus warned, “he who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."   The bible is the greatest counsel and blessing we have.  You and I will be blessed if we read and heed its instruction and warning!  Take heart, all the answers to the past, present and future are in God’s Word.  “Whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” 

Joel 2: 32   “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” 1 Corinthians 6: 2

Jesus said, “When these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” (cf. Luke 21: 25-28)
