I am trying to get back into running shape after a 14 year hiatus, and it’s been tough!  Although my “head” is able and ready, my body is slow to cooperate.  My mind is fully committed to my goal(s), yet, I’m still waiting for my body to catch up.  I realize that I have to take a “nod” to age and that my best racing times are behind me, but I am committed to being the best that I can be.  The church (in the bible) is spoken of metaphorically as the “body,” and Christ being the head of that body.(cf. Ephesians 4:16;             1 Corinthians 12:12)   This body is comprised of: large and small (in numbers); diversity of gifts; young and old.  Whether the body is large and younger, or small and older, does not devalue its importance in the body and the Kingdom of God!  Jesus has given us our goal (command), to make disciples.  Let us individually and collectively as a body, continue to pray, support and encourage one another.  Let us recognize that we all have “the work of ministry.”  Let us intentionally be “edifying” one another.  Let us “speak the truth in love.”  Let us remember that we need one another, and that Jesus’ prayer for us is that we be ONE. (cf. John 17:22)   Let us  be reminded, “From whom the WHOLE BODY, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.” (Ephesians 4:16)

Let’s get in shape church (spiritually & physically), even if we have to take a “nod” to age!
