    The Invitation

    February 28, 2020

I invited (proposed) Becky to marry me over 39 years ago - she said, “yes.”   We both had just turned 19 years of age when we got married.   Our vows before God and witnesses were, “for richer or for poorer.  In sickness or in health.  For better or for worse - till death do we part.”

Although I cannot image my life without her now, I know that some day we will be separated by death.  Becky and I both accepted God’s invitation to accept His Son (Jesus) as our Savior and Lord.  We both believe the Bible to be God’s inspired word and the Bible says, “for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” - that is the good news of the gospel!  Yes, death will someday part us in this life, but because of Jesus Christ we will be reunited someday in heaven!

Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life.  He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.  And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.” (John 11:25)   God invites you and me to be a part of the eternal kingdom of heaven.   Jesus says, “Come to the wedding!”

(cf. Matthew 22), but you must accept the invitation - have you?!  I’m thankful that Jesus brings hope for today, tomorrow and beyond the grave!

I’m thankful because of Jesus I will never have to say goodbye to my loved ones who know Jesus too, but only “see you later” or  as the lyrics to my favorite song goes, “I’ll meet you in the morning!”

    In His Service,

    Pastor Rodney
