    The Lord is my shepherd

    May 27, 2020

The bible reminds me that “God has not given [me] a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)

I believe in the God of the Bible.  I believe the Bible to be God’s inspired word to mankind.  I believe “in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”  I believe “for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16).  I believe Jesus when He says that He will never leave me nor forsake me, even when I don’t sense His presence or when He seems silent.  I believe in my personal responsibility to follow Him as Lord, meaning He has reign and rule of my life.  I also believe in the providential care of a loving, caring God.

“The LORD is my shepherd.”  I’m learning to be content.  He tries to “lead me to green pastures and beside still waters” so that my soul will be restored.  He leads me to a right way to live (righteousness,) if I will only listen to His voice and follow Him.   Although I may “walk beside the valley of the shadow of death” I have nothing to fear because He is with me from the cradle to the grave and all in between.  Though I have enemies and an enemy of my soul, He has given me His Holy Spirit so that I might experience joy to overflowing and experience true peace, peace that surpasses all understanding.  I recognize His goodness and mercy to me as I journey through this life with all its valleys and mountains.  When this life ends as I know it, I am thankful for the promise of eternal life and a place in His eternal home - because He promises!  (cf. Psalm 23)

Help me Jesus to hear your voice among all the noice of this life and to truly follow you!  May I truly experience “The LORD as my shepherd!”

    How about you?!

    In Christ Alone,

    Pastor Rodney

In Christ alone my hope is found!
