The Power of Choice and Its Consequences

    September 3, 2016

Nick Vujicic was born with no legs and no arms.  Nick, like all of us, had no choice in how he was born.   Did God make a mistake?  Was this a cruel joke from His creator?   Although Nick had no choice in how he was born, he did have a choice in what he was going to do with his life.  Was he going  to be angry with God?  Was he going to crawl up and die?  Was he going to be angry with the world?  No, Nick chose to live!  Not only did he choose to live, but to live his life in such a way that he inspires people all across the world!  He intentionally chose with the help of God to live a life without limits.  Nick, by choice, is living his life fruitful for the glory of God.

There is another true story, in the bible, about a man named Esau.  He had his legs and arms.  He was the firstborn in his family, which meant he held the “birthright.”  A birthright was an honor given to the firstborn, bestowing “head of household” status and the right to inherit his father’s estate.

Esau, like Nick, was given a choice.  A choice to keep his “birthright” or to give it way.  He chose to give it away for a bowl of stew (cf. Genesis 25: 29-34) and forfeit the blessings of God.  God has given each one of us “The Power of Choice”  We need to “Stop - Step Back - Look at the Big Picture!”   God loves you.  He created you for a purpose!   Will you choose to give your life to God, to be used for His glory and His purposes?

    In His Service,

    Pastor Rodney
