    The sin of "Ingratitude"

    July 27, 2017

    Have you made a profession of faith?  That is, have you received Jesus Christ as your Savior and repented of your sins?  Are you now following Him as Lord?   The two go hand-in-hand.  If Jesus is your Savior, then you follow Him as Lord out of gratitude.  This gratitude is expressed in how you live and think.  You recognize that: God is the giver of life; It is God who sustains you; It is God who sent His only begotten Son so that you through Him might be saved;

    (cf. John 3:16-21)   It is Christ who died for you while you were yet dead in your sins; It is Christ who changed your eternal destiny; It is Christ who has the words of eternal life. (cf. John 6: 68; John 14:6); It is Christ “who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” (cf. 1 Peter 2: 9)  Unfortunately, our human tendency is to pull back from following the Lord when life gets really tough or when things are going really well, we forget Him - this is The sin of “Ingratitude.”   We all need to be reminded of what Christ saved us “from” and “for.”  God loves you despite your sins and faults.  You can count on God’s faithfulness.  Repent and turn back to following Jesus - God will give you strength.  Have you used one of your past hurts to help a friend through a similar problem?   In what areas of your life have you strayed from God and His word?

    Let’s not grow weary in following Jesus - “for there is no savior besides Him.”    Let’s continue to follow Jesus - out of GRATITUDE!

    In His Service,

    Pastor Rodney
