Jesus said that “He (God the Father) makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” (cf. Matthew 5:45)

Herein lies the Sovereignty of God!  God is all-knowing, all-powerful and ever-present!  The bible says “while the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease.” (cf. Genesis 8: 22)  A Sovereign God not only sends the rain, but He allows “that thorn” in our lives.  Who doesn’t like roses?!  They are one of God’s beautiful creations - and they smell good too!   But on the stems of those roses are thorns.  Why are the thorns there? - to protect the rose.

Listen, you are God’s crown jewel, His greatest possession and creation!

He has made you “just” through Jesus Christ - and He is perfecting you.  And sometimes that perfection comes by the way of “thorns.”   Those prickly, hurtful things that keep you on your knees - are the very things that actually protects you from yourself (self-sufficiency).  The Apostle Paul prayed three times to be rid of his “thorn.”   The thorn was not removed because the Sovereign God knew best.  You and I, like Paul, must rest upon the sufficiency of Christ -“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” - Jesus (cf. 2 Corinthians 12:9)

May our hearts be like that of Paul’s - “Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me…for when I am weak, then I am strong.”

    In His Service,
