“To tithe or not to tithe?!”  I really dislike talking about money, in fact, I only preach on this topic maybe once a year.   But it is a biblical principle (O.T. & N.T.) and one that Jesus addressed on several occasions.  Jesus said the “love” of money was the root of all even.  Jesus spoke of how hard it was for a rich man to enter heaven because they trusted in “uncertain” riches instead of Him.  Jesus told a parable of the rich man that was storing up more and more possessions for himself, and in this case, Jesus said that he was as fool, because his soul was going to be required of him that very day.  There are a lot of misconceptions and misunderstandings about money and the use of it.   It is not my intent to “de-christianize”  anyone based upon their giving, that is between you and the Lord.  In this brief writing I cannot do the topic justice, this topic, that we are all very sensitive about.  I would challenge you though, if you are a Christ follower to consider every area of your life - time, talent and yes, money.  And the challenge is this - give the Lord the “first-fruit” of your time, talent and money, acknowledging that it is all His, and provided by Him - giving back to Him a portion of what He has entrusted to you, for the building up and furtherance of His work.  This is the only area where the bible says that we can actually test God and not be in trouble!   The bible says, “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, and try Me now in this, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.” (cf. Malachi 3:10)
