“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.” (Isaiah 40: 28-29)
Some would question with resent world events, “where is this God of the Bible?” It does feel that God is silent at times in our lives. Some want to blame God for all the bad in our world or say “this or that” is God’s judgement upon mankind. To that I would echo those words by Jesus in Matthew 22, “you are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God!” God’s judgment came over 2,000 years ago, “for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son!” There were some 400 silent years from the last Old Testament prophet prophesying of the coming of Christ before He came on the scene. Isaiah prophesied 700 years prior to Jesus’ coming.
But He came and “by His stripes we are healed!” Yes, we still live in a fallen world and bad things happen. But Jesus came so that we might have life and have it more abundantly. Jesus is coming again and He will make all things new! But until then we have to continue to trust in His word! As Joshua reminds us, “not a word failed of any good thing which the LORD had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.”
Our faith is not based upon feelings and emotions but upon the power of God and His word. When God seems silent, or when the troubles of this life come pressing in, lean on God and His word - He will not fail.
“God’s word is Him speaking to us in written form. Always available. Never silent.”
“This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast” (Hebrews 6:19)
