Will You Stand In The "GAP?"

    November 4, 2016

“…America must win this war…I will fight as if the issue of the whole struggle depended on me alone.” - From Martin Treptow’s Journal

Martin Treptow, who went to France in 1917 with the Rainbow Division did not make it out of France alive (killed while trying to carry a message), but his journal survived, and his words continue to inspire us.  President Ronald Regan shared this “Warriors Pledge” in his Patriotic speech in 1981.  He was a President of character, integrity and faith.  A President who understood God had indeed blessed America because we once were a Nation that was  truly “One Nation Under God.”   But, we have since lost our moral compass, our true north.  We have been on a downward slide morally and spiritually since prayer was taken out of our public schools in 1963 (my generation, I am sad to say).

Ezekiel, one of the Old Testament prophets, was a man called of God who also was a man of character, integrity and faith.  A man who loved his Nation (Israel) and was sent to his people to be God’s mouthpiece,  a Watchman to give the nation warning of coming judgment for theirs sins.

But with judgment, God always offers hope!  There was hope for Israel, if they would turn from their sins, repent, turn to God and obey His word.

What held true for Israel, holds true for America - we can do no less.  We need more “Watchmen!”  We need more men and women standing in  the “Gap!”   God said, “I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.” (Ezekiel 22:30)   Church, I believe our greatest need and our most powerful weapon in these “Times” is PRAYER!

Jesus while praying in Gethsemane rebuked His disciples for falling asleep -“What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?” (Matthew 26:40)  Are we asleep too?!   Am I asleep?!  Oh, God stir my heart!  May I have that same attitude that ‘I will fight as if the issue of the whole struggle depended on me alone!’  God may I be that one that is willing to stand in the “Gap” and pray for our Nation!  May I not be asleep, but may I be persistent in prayer!

Will you stand in the “GAP” with me?

    In His Service,

    Pastor Rodney
