I love these lyrics and song by Michael W. Smith - “The wind is moving but I am standing still. A life of pages waiting to be filled. A heart that’s hopeful, a head that’s full of dreams, but this becoming is harder than it seems…feels like, I’m looking for a reason, roaming through the night to find my place in this world, my place in this world…I need your light to help me find my place in this world.”
Have you ever wondered about your place in the world? Have you ever wondered why God put you here?
Our enemy, the devil, would have us to question our existence, our purpose or reason for being. All the answers and questions that we might have are contained within in God’s word, if we would only believe.
The psalmist is Psalm chapter139 reminds us that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (cf. vv.13-16).
The psalmist in Psalm chapter 8 reflects on man’s place when compared to the majesty of God expressed in His creation when he penned, “when I consider Your heavens, the world of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit (give attention to or care for) him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, and You have crowned him with glory and honor.”
God is the creator and sustainer of all things, on earth, in the sea, in heaven and in the heaven of heavens! And He says I know you by name! He says I know the very hairs of your head. He says you are fearfully and wonderfully made! He says you are the apple of His eye and that He loves, loves you with an everlasting love! He loves you so much that He left the throne room of heaven and came to earth so that you might know Him and be saved via Jesus Christ! His greatest desire is that you know Him and that you spend an eternity with Him in heaven someday!
He created you for a purpose! He has chosen you, not just for heaven’s sake, but for earthly sake - to glorify Him in your daily life by living for Him!
“O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth!”
