“…He sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed.” - JESUS (cf. Luke 4:18) The prophet Isaiah prophesied 700 years before Christ would enter our world, His mission - “…by His stripes we are healed.” (cf. Isaiah 53: 5b) By divine intervention, Jesus came that we might through Him receive the ultimate healing - healing of our sins.
We all know that eventually we are going to physically die, but God still sometimes, in His sovereign will...

I pen this weeks pastor’s desk with a heavy heart, and burden for my sister. Many of you had prayed for her return last week, and praise the Lord she was found. My parents and I knew somewhat what it must have felt like when Jesus told the parable of the prodigal son and the Fathers’ response, “for this is my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.”
(cf. Luke 15:11-32) I know some of you had the same experience. My continued burden is “why?”, when...

Compassion - “A feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering.”
I believe people fall into 1 of 4 categories when it comes to compassion: 1) Have been...

Wednesday, March 1st was “Ash” Wednesday. This day marks the countdown to the Easter celebration on April 16th (40 days to Easter, excluding Sundays). This is considered a time (lent) for many to reflect, fast and prepare. Whether you observe this period (lent) or not, it is wise to consider and prepare where you will spend eternity. As the psalmist said, “teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
(Psalm 90: 12) Death is not a popular topic. We don’t like to really talk about it. About the only time we really seem to address it,...

I am trying to get back into running shape after a 14 year hiatus, and it’s been tough! Although my “head” is able and ready, my body is slow to cooperate. My mind is fully committed to my goal(s), yet, I’m still waiting for my body to catch up. I realize that I have to...

“I went out full, and the LORD has brought me home again empty…the almighty has afflicted me?” (cf.Ruth 1)
Naomi had just lost her two sons, and her husband preceded them in death. On top of all that she was away from her family and relatives. She had no means to support herself. What is she to do? Why would an all-powerful, all-knowing and ever-present God allow this to happen to her? Naomi was a good women, a God fearing woman. Well respected and loved. This raises the question - “why do bad things happen?”...

God’s Love is so amazing! He loves even me! The word “love” appears anywhere from 310 times to 551 times in the bible, depending on what translation you use. Although the word “love” is not penned in every book of the bible, God’s love is certainly expressed in all 66 books that make up the bible - from Genesis to Revelation. God relentlessly pursues a relationship with you. God never...

“Knowing God’s Will” - that’s a big topic, even for this 55 year old! As I reflect on my life up to this point in my journey, can I say I knew and did God’s will every step of the way? The answer would be, “No.” There have been times that I have been out of the will of God, and there have been times when I really could not discern God’s will. Even though God is Sovereign, His will is not always accomplished. For instance,...

The Bible says, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” (Proverbs 14:12) No one in their right mind would deliberately choose death. But God says that is....

I don’t care who you are, you either do, or will have obstacles or situations in your life that seem to keep you from going forward. Situations where there seemingly is absolutely no way through or around. The difference in being victorious in those situations is in your attitude - and I’m not speaking of PMA (positive mental attitude). I’m speaking of an attitude that has an unshakable faith in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and His promises to His people - past, present and future! Joshua and Caleb exhibited this unshakable faith when the majority said, “We are not able..”, they responded, “…the LORD is with us. Do not fear…” (cf. Numbers 13, 14)
The majority was right, they were not able, but...
